Chapter 7: The Unwritten Promises

Three years later.

Peace didn't mean life stood still. The Thorne Institute had grown into a global network, offering refuge and legal protection to thousands. But inside the Thorne household, life was measured in simpler, sweeter milestones.

Baby Amelia was now a spirited four-year-old, and the family had just welcomed its newest addition—a healthy baby boy named Lucas.

One quiet evening, Marcus stood by his office window, watching the moonlight reflect off the estate's garden. His phone chimed. It was Nathan.

"Marcus," Nathan’s voice was measured over the line. "Isabella's legal team filed an appeal for early parole. It was denied immediately. She’s given up all remaining legal challenges. Her lawyer mentioned she wanted to send a message to you."

Marcus didn't flinch. The shadow that once loomed over his life had lost all its power.

"I have nothing to receive from her, Nathan," Marcus replied, his voice calm and absolute. "She made her choices. Let her live with them."

He hung up.

Turning around, he found Khloe leaning against the doorway, wrapped in a soft cardigan, watching him with soft, knowing eyes.

"Is everything okay?" she asked gently.

Marcus walked over, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close. "Everything is perfect. The past is officially locked away. From here on, there's only us, our children, and the life we build together."

Khloe rested her head against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart—the same heart that had stood as an unyielding fortress when her world fell apart.
