CHAPTER TWO: THE SHATTERING OF ILLUSIONS

The oppressive silence was suddenly, violently annihilated.

The deafening roar of a modified V12 engine tore through the air, shaking the very foundations of the building. Before anyone could react, a matte-black armored SUV leaped the curb outside and smashed directly through the showroom’s massive, floor-to-ceiling reinforced glass doors.

An explosive shower of tempered glass rained down across the pristine showroom. The explosive boom of the impact sent customers screaming and diving for cover. Plumes of white dust and pulverized concrete billowed into the air. The black behemoth slammed its brakes, screeching to a violent halt just inches from the sapphire hypercar.

The heavy, armored door of the SUV kicked open before the vehicle had even fully settled.

Out stepped Ms. Eleanor Chen. At forty-five, she was a terrifying vision of absolute corporate authority. She wore an immaculate, razor-sharp white blazer over a black silk blouse. She didn’t flinch at the falling glass or the panicked screams. A phalanx of heavily armed personal security personnel and sharply dressed executive staff poured into the room behind her, instantly forming a perimeter and forcefully shoving the stunned crowd back.

Eleanor’s eyes locked onto the scene on the floor. Her face hardened into a mask of pure, unadulterated fury. She moved with blinding speed, her designer heels crunching over the shattered glass, and dropped to her knees beside the fallen old man.

Her hands, usually reserved for signing billion-dollar acquisitions, gently and frantically checked Mr. Chen’s shoulders, straightening his collar, her eyes scanning him for serious injuries.

She stood up slowly. The temperature in the room seemed to plummet. When she spoke, her voice wasn’t a scream; it was a deadly, resonant command that cut through the dust and chaos like a surgical scalpel.

“Who dares insult my father?”

Liam froze. The blood drained from his face so fast he looked as though he might pass out. His hands, previously resting confidently in his pockets, began to tremble uncontrollably. He took a clumsy, involuntary half-step backward, his eyes darting between the battered old man on the floor and the terrifying billionaire CEO standing before him.

“Y-your father…?” Liam stammered, his voice cracking, the arrogant bravado entirely stripped away.
