Chapter 2 - THE RECORDING INSIDE THE DINOSAUR

Detective Lena Hart separated the adults as soon as officers entered the lawn.
Claudia immediately demanded medical attention for her hip and claimed Jonathan had attacked her without warning.
“He came home furious,” she said. “Sophie was having another behavioral episode, and I was trying to keep her from hurting herself.”
Lena looked at the scattered blond hair.
“With scissors?”
“She grabbed them first.”
Sophie was taken inside with a female officer while paramedics examined the red marks on her scalp. Jonathan remained near the driveway, answering every question without hiding the kick.
“Yes, I kicked Claudia.”
“Where?”
“In the side.”
“Why?”
“She was holding my daughter’s hair and raising the scissors again.”
“Could you have moved her another way?”
Jonathan looked toward the kitchen window, where Sophie stood wrapped in a blanket.
“Probably.”
Lena watched him carefully.
“You understand that protecting a child does not automatically erase your own use of force?”
“I understand.”
His refusal to deny the act weakened Claudia’s planned narrative.
She had expected him to claim he never touched her.
The toy dinosaur was opened under police supervision. Its memory held recordings from the previous seven weeks.
The final file began twelve minutes before Jonathan arrived.
Claudia’s voice was calm.
“Sit on the grass.”
Sophie answered, “I put the paper back.”
“You read it.”
“I only saw Dad’s name.”
“You had no permission.”
“Why did you write like him?”
A sharp slap followed.
Sophie cried.
Then Claudia said, “When your father sees your hair, he’ll lose control. You will tell the police he attacked me.”
“No.”
“You will if you want to stay in this house.”
“I want Dad.”
“Your father spends more time with his company than with you.”
The scissors opened near the microphone.
Sophie begged.
Claudia cut the first lock.
Then she called someone.
“He’s ten minutes away,” she said. “The driveway alert just triggered.”
A man answered through the speaker.
“Make sure the hedge camera sees his reaction, not yours.”
Detective Lena paused the file.
“Who is that?”
Jonathan recognized the voice.
Victor Shaw, the attorney who had managed Elena’s estate and later drafted Jonathan and Claudia’s prenuptial agreement.
The recording continued.
Claudia asked, “What if Jonathan doesn’t hit me?”
“Keep the scissors near Sophie. He will intervene.”
“And the child?”
“Once he is removed, the emergency petition gives you temporary authority.”
Jonathan’s face went cold.
“What petition?”
Police searched Claudia’s handbag.
Inside was a sealed family-court filing prepared that morning. It accused Jonathan of violent behavior, emotional instability, and reckless absence from Sophie’s life.
It asked the court to remove Sophie from his custody and appoint Claudia temporary guardian.
The hedge camera was supposed to provide the final image.
A millionaire father attacking his wife while a frightened child watched.
The footage would begin after Claudia cut the hair.
It would show only Jonathan’s kick.
Claudia had arranged the lawn, the camera, the timing, and the scissors before he arrived.
But the dinosaur had recorded her planning the entire event.
When confronted with Victor’s voice, Claudia stopped claiming the attack was spontaneous.
She demanded her lawyer.
Victor did not answer his phone.
His office assistant said he had left twenty minutes earlier carrying a red estate folder.

The folder contained Sophie’s trust records.
👉 The hair cutting was designed to provoke Jonathan into losing custody, and the family lawyer had helped Claudia prepare the trap.
