Serena’s lawyers attacked Ethan’s legal status.
They claimed Victor was not the child’s biological father.

The accusation spread across tabloids before Victor received the filing.
Lily found him reading it in the nursery.
“Is it possible?” she asked.
Victor looked toward Ethan sleeping in the crib.
“Elena and I separated briefly before she became pregnant.”
He had never requested a DNA test.
Ethan was his son because he raised him.
But Serena did not care about family.
She cared about jurisdiction.
A court ordered testing.
The result showed Victor was not Ethan’s biological father.
Serena’s legal team celebrated.

Victor had legally adopted Ethan three days after birth.

Victor had signed the forms without reading the biological disclosure because he had never cared.

The biological father was Adrian Vale, a medical researcher connected to Serena’s foundation.
Adrian had worked with Elena during a separation from Victor.
Their brief relationship ended before she learned she was pregnant.
Adrian signed away rights.
Afterward, Serena recruited him.
He had access to the heart medication used to kill Elena.
Detectives arrested Adrian at a laboratory outside Chicago.
He denied murder but admitted supplying the drug.
He said Serena told him it would make Elena appear unstable.
“Did you know she planned to kill her?” Cole asked.
“No.”
“Did you know she was drugging Ethan?”
He looked away.
Adrian had secretly monitored Ethan’s blood results.
He knew the baby received medication.
He did nothing because Serena promised him control of the patent company after Victor was removed.
Serena built the scheme using everyone’s private weakness.

Adrian’s ambition.
Marco’s loyalty to authority.
Victor’s grief.
Staff fear.
She believed no one would compare stories.
Then a nanny’s recorder brought them into one room.
Adrian accepted a cooperation deal.
He revealed Serena’s final plan.
She never intended to wait for Ethan to die naturally.
The wedding ceremony included a private naming ritual at the mansion chapel.
Serena planned to give Ethan a ceremonial drink mixed with medication.
The child would become ill later that evening.
His previous breathing history would make the death appear tragic but expected.
Victor would be emotionally destroyed.
Serena would control the trust board.
The wedding was six weeks away.
Ethan’s abuse in the foyer happened because he knocked the prepared vial from Serena’s handbag.
He had nearly exposed everything.
She attacked a fourteen-month-old child to retrieve it.
Lily moved between them before Serena succeeded.
Victor looked at her after Adrian’s confession.
“You saved his life.”
“I tried to stop her.”
“You did what everyone else was afraid to do.”
Lily did not want to become a heroic servant in a rich family’s story.
“I was afraid too.”
“Then why move?”
“Because he couldn’t.”
That answer changed something in Victor.
