Chapter 7: The Counterattack

Vittorio moved quickly through the back of the villa, using the old service passages that only he and a few of his most trusted men knew about. He had already sent Luca to take Sophia somewhere safe, so now he could focus entirely on dealing with the betrayal.

He reached the wine cellar and pulled out his encrypted phone. This time, he called Marco directly.

“Status,” Vittorio said the moment the call connected.

“We found Renzo,” Marco replied. “He’s being held in an old warehouse near the port. Alessio’s men are guarding him. About six of them.”

Vittorio’s grip on the phone tightened.

“And Isabella?”

“She’s still at the villa. She’s been making calls nonstop since you disappeared. She’s trying to reach her contacts, but most of them aren’t answering.”

Vittorio was silent for a moment.

“Send two teams to the warehouse,” he ordered. “I want Renzo alive. As for the men guarding him… I don’t care. And Marco…”

“Yes, Boss?”

“Make sure Alessio’s men know who took Renzo. I want him to understand that I’m coming for him.”

“Understood.”

Vittorio ended the call and leaned against the cold stone wall of the cellar. His mind was clear now. The initial shock had passed, replaced by a cold, calculating rage.

He had been betrayed by his own wife and his own brother.

They had planned to kill him, steal his empire, and even tried to use a child’s father as leverage. Vittorio had spent years building his power, but he had been blind to the rot growing inside his own home.

That mistake would not happen again.

He took out the cracked phone Sophia had given him and looked at the recordings once more. Then he made another decision.

He would not just destroy them quietly.

He would make sure everyone in their world knew exactly what Isabella and Alessio had done.

Vittorio put the phone away and headed toward the hidden exit of the cellar. It was time to stop hiding.
