Chapter 6: The Secret in the Injection Room

The executive elevator came to a smooth halt at the fourth floor with a soft, polite ding. The glass doors slid open to reveal a luxurious corridor that looked completely out of place inside a high-security state prison. The floors were covered in thick, plush gray carpets, the walls were lined with dark oak panels, and classical music played softly from hidden speakers in the ceiling. This was Victor Vance’s kingdom, a multi-million dollar penthouse built inside a concrete cage.

Leo stepped out of the cabin, his bare feet sinking into the carpet. He didn't hold a weapon; he just kept his hands loose at his sides, his eyes scanning the corporate artwork on the walls. He knew the luxury was a lie, a mask designed to hide the blood and corruption that paid for it.

Halfway down the hall, a door marked “MEDICAL BAY – INJECTION UNIT” was slightly ajar, a bright, sterile white light leaking out onto the carpet.

Leo stopped, his sharp ears catching the low, frantic murmuring of two voices inside.

"Is the dosage ready? We need to make it look like an accidental overdose before the morning shift arrives," a harsh, cold voice ordered.

"Yes, sir," a second voice, sounding nervous and shaky, replied. "Three milligrams of pure potassium chloride. It will stop his heart within two minutes, and the medical examiner won't find a trace unless they run a full forensic toxicology screen."

Leo pushed the door open completely, stepping into the sterile room.

The room was filled with stainless steel cabinets, rows of glass vials, and a large leather dentist's chair in the center. Standing near the desk was a man in a white doctor’s coat, holding a loaded syringe, alongside a large, muscular man in a security guard uniform who was carrying a suppressed submachine gun under his jacket.

When the guard saw Leo standing in the doorway, his eyes went wide with shock. He instantly reached for his weapon. "Vance! What the hell are you doing up here—"

Before the guard could clear his holster, Leo lunged forward across the small room, moving with the speed of an elite military asset. He grabbed the guard's wrist, twisting it violently until the bone cracked, forcing the submachine gun to drop onto the floorboards. In the same motion, Leo drove a powerful knee directly into the guard's stomach, followed by a sharp elbow to the jaw. The massive man crashed into a glass cabinet, shattering hundreds of vials before collapsing onto the floor, unconscious.

The doctor screamed, dropping the syringe, backing away into the corner of the room, his hands raised in pure terror. "Don't kill me! Don't kill me! I was just following orders! Victor told me to do it!"

Leo didn't look at the doctor. His eyes were fixed on the man sitting in the leather chair in the center of the room.

It was Jax, the giant bully from the cafeteria. His head was still wrapped in heavy bandages, his neck in a brace, his face pale and haggard. He was strapped to the chair with heavy leather belts, his eyes wide with an absolute, primal fear as he looked at Leo.

"You..." Jax whispered, his voice trembling violently. "You came to finish me off?"

"No, Jax," Leo said softly, walking over and using a scalpel from the desk to slice through the leather straps, freeing the giant's arms. "My brother was going to kill you tonight because you lost the fight in the cafeteria. To a man like Victor, a broken tool is a liability. He was going to use that syringe to silence you before the federal investigators arrive tomorrow."

Jax stared at the shattered glass vials on the floor, then up at Leo’s cold, calm face. The realization of his own boss’s betrayal hit him like a physical blow to the chest. "He... he was gonna murder me? After everything I did for him?"

May you like

"He doesn't care about your loyalty, Jax," Leo said, handing him the unconscious guard’s submachine gun. "If you want to survive the night, you're going to help me clear the remaining guards out of the main penthouse suite. What do you say? Ready for a second round?"

Jax gripped the heavy weapon, a dark, burning rage replacing the fear in his wide eyes. He stood up from the chair, his massive body shaking with fury. "Let's go, kid. Let's show this billionaire what happens when he treats an Iron Gate king like garbage."
