CHAPTER 18: THE THRONEROOM OF SUNLIGHT

A week later.

The Mediterranean sun flooded the grand balcony of the Palermo estate, painting the stone walls in warm, liquid gold.

Lorenzo sat at the wrought-iron table, sipping a fresh espresso, watching the blue waves crash lazily against the cliffs below. Isabella sat beside him, her hand resting warmly over his, her emerald eyes bright with a peace that had been won through fire and blood.

The balcony doors slid open.

Emma walked out, wearing a simple white linen suit, carrying a cup of coffee. She took a seat between her mother and father, looking out at the endless horizon.

Marcus stepped onto the balcony a moment later, holding a single leather folder. He didn't look tired anymore; his rugged face wore the quiet satisfaction of a soldier who knew the war was truly over.

"Zurich is dark, Boss," Marcus reported with a faint, proud smile. "The Old Crown dissolved overnight. The northern families have formally pledged their allegiance to Emma."

Lorenzo looked at his daughter, a quiet, profound pride shining in his storm-gray eyes. He reached out, laying his hand over hers on the table.

"The throne is yours whenever you want it, mia cara," Lorenzo said softly.

Emma looked at her father, then at her mother, and finally out over the calm, sparkling sea.

"I don't need a throne, Father," Emma replied, a radiant, invincible smile breaking across her face. "We have a family."

Lorenzo laughed—a clear, victorious sound that floated out over the cliffside, carried away by the warm Mediterranean breeze.

The shadows were gone. The ghosts were laid to rest. And high above the sea, the DeLuca empire stood untouchable in the light.
