Chapter 25 - THE DIVORCEI did not divorce Ryan because he gave away a bedroom.
I divorced him because the bedroom exposed the marriage underneath.
He hid debt.
Used copied signatures.
Turned custody into leverage.
Allowed his mother to establish a fake caregiver role.
And repeatedly decided:
Claire will say no, so don’t ask Claire.
Marriage cannot survive where consent is treated as a procedural inconvenience.
Ryan and I mediated.
Property separation was simpler because the house remained trust property.
His business debt remained primarily his.
Joint accounts were divided.
He repaid certain household funds.
Custody took longer.
Ethan wanted his father.
That was true too.
Ryan loved him.
Also betrayed him.
Humans inconveniently remain more than one thing.
Over time:
Day visits.
Then weekends.
Then overnights.
No Linda initially.
Later, when Ethan was older and wanted limited contact, supervised first.
