Chapter 5: The Unspoken Accusation
Julian knelt on the cold marble floor, his chest heaving with deep, rapid breaths as he held his wife tightly against his heart. His suit jacket was rumpled, his knees bruised beneath the fabric, but his hands were steady, supporting her head and lower back with an intense, protective care that shook with adrenaline.

Victoria gasped for breath, her chest rising and falling in shallow, frantic movements like a bird trapped in a cage. Her body trembled faintly from the sheer shock of the descent. For a long, terrifying moment, her eyes were wide, vacant, and completely unfocused, staring at the sparkling crystal chandelier above them as if she couldn't comprehend that the falling had stopped, that the air was solid again.
"Victoria... look at me. Breathe, sweetheart, breathe," Julian murmured, his voice a low, frantic whisper as his fingers gently brushed her blonde hair away from her pale face. His heart was hammering so loudly he was certain she could hear it against his ribs.

Slowly, the vacancy in her eyes cleared. She blinked, focusing on her husband's warm, strong face. A soft, broken sob finally escaped her lips, her body twitching as the reality of her survival set in. She clutched his lapels, her fingers tearing at the grey fabric of his vest.

Weakly, her trembling left arm lifted from her side. She raised one shaking hand, her fingers pointing slowly and deliberately upward toward the distant second-floor balcony railing. Her lips parted, moving without sound at first as she tried to force the words past her dry throat, her jaw tight with shock.

Julian followed the line of her finger. He looked past the spiral staircase tiers, straight up to the high balcony where Charlotte still stood. His sister hadn't moved. She was frozen, clutching the iron railing, her face pale as she realized her brother had caught the fall. Victoria’s silent, pointing finger spoke louder than any scream ever could.
