Julian looked down at her, a maniacal grin spreading across his face. He grabbed a heavy wrench from the cabin wall and swung it at her hands.
"You should have stayed in Mendocino, you stupid bitch!" he roared.
The wrench connected with her knuckles. Bones cracked. Elena nearly lost her grip, dangling by her left hand. The ocean churned furiously below, a dark, churning abyss.
"It's over!" Julian screamed, raising the wrench for a final blow.
