Chapter 26: The Fall

Elena looked up into his eyes, and for the first time in seven years, she felt no anger. She felt only a profound, hollow clarity. She wasn't fighting for revenge anymore; she was fighting to ensure this monster never ruined another life.

With her last ounce of strength, she swung her body upward, wrapping her legs around the helicopter skid, and reached into her jacket. She pulled the pin on a flashbang grenade she had taken from the armory and tossed it directly into the cockpit.
