When Lily was twenty-seven, the prosecutor’s office notified us that duplicate evidence copies of Session Nine could be destroyed after the final retention period.
The official transcript and necessary legal record would remain.
Did she want a family copy?
“No.”
“Are you sure?”
“Why would I?”
I had no good answer.
Because evidence had once saved us?
Because the video proved she told the truth?
She did not need to prove it anymore.
“Destroy it.”
The duplicate was destroyed.
No ceremonial deletion button.
Records staff handled it.
The tablet itself had been returned to Vanessa years earlier after forensic preservation.
She surrendered it during bankruptcy asset liquidation.
Gone.
The internet retained no known public copy because the stream had been restricted and investigators acted quickly.
