“That is not an apology.”
Sarah stiffened.
“I said I’m sorry.”
“You apologized for the result.”
“What do you want?”
“To hear what you did.”
Her attorney looked exhausted.
Sarah finally said:
“I slapped her.”
“Why?”
“She was misbehaving.”
“No.”
Sarah glared.
The mediator intervened.
“You do not have to agree with Emily’s interpretation. But if future contact is being considered, the adults need clarity that hitting Olivia in the face was not acceptable discipline.”
Sarah looked at Michael.
