Chapter 19 - THE BELLWEATHER

The Bellweather Grand survived restructuring.
Victoria lost controlling equity.
An independent board took over.
Sterling Global never absorbed it.
Good.
The hotel needed to exist without becoming proof of her legacy or my victory.
The service corridor where I found Sophia was renovated.
Not because of trauma.
Because health inspectors had already cited waste handling.
We added a food-recovery partnership.
Safe untouched banquet surplus went to local shelters under proper food-safety rules.
Plate waste still went to trash.
No sentimental “Sophia Program.”
She was a child.
Not a brand.
The gala ballroom remained.
Years later, a journalist asked whether I planned to tear it down.
“No.”
“Why not?”
“It’s a ballroom.”
