Chapter 6 - The Confession of the Heart
The snow fell thick and silent over the glen, blanketing the stone chapel in a pristine, white quiet.
Sienna stood in the doorway of the chapel, watching the snowflakes drift through the air. The chapel was small, built of rough-hewn stone, with a simple wooden altar and a hand-carved crucifix. It was a place of absolute, unadorned beauty.
She heard quiet footsteps on the stone floor behind her. It was Aiden. He carried a single beeswax candle, placing it on the altar, its warm light dancing across his face.
"I used to think that to be close to God, I needed to build grand cathedrals," Aiden said, his voice soft in the quiet space. "But then I realized that He is found in the quietest corners of our lives. In the bread we share, the soil we tend, and the love we give."
He walked over to her, standing close. The cold winter air seemed to vanish in the warmth of his presence.
"Sienna," Aiden said, his voice trembling slightly with an emotion he had kept guarded for months. "When you first arrived, you were like a broken bird, cold and terrified of the world. But as I watched you work, watched you pray, and watched you open your heart to this community... I saw the woman God made you to be. You are strong, you are kind, and you are incredibly beautiful."
He reached out, his hand gently cupping her cheek, his thumb brushing away a stray tear. "I don't have a castle in Florence, and I don't have a shipping empire to offer you. But I have an honest heart, a faith that will never shake, and a love that is yours for the rest of my days. I want to build a life with you, Sienna. A simple, quiet life."
Sienna looked at him, her heart overflowing with a joy so pure it felt sacred. "I don't want a castle, Aiden. I don't want the gold. Your love is the only wealth I will ever need."
She threw her arms around his neck, pulling him close as they stood in the quiet chapel, their hearts beating in a perfect, peaceful rhythm.

But as she held him, she knew what she had to do. "I love you, Aiden. But before I can stay here with you forever... I have to go back to Florence. I have to face Julian. I have to end the contract once and for all."
Aiden looked at her, his eyes filled with absolute trust. "I will be waiting for you. And my prayers will go with you."
