Chapter 9 - THE PARTY VIDEO

A guest sent me a video from Noah’s birthday.

Not because of finances.

Because she thought I might need proof of what happened.

The video began thirty seconds before Madison dumped the bucket.

Madison carried it from beside the garden.

Kevin saw her.

He said something.

Audio was weak.

We enhanced nothing ourselves.

We simply listened.

Madison:

“Watch this.”

Kevin:

“Madison, don’t make a huge mess.”

Not:

Don’t do it.

Then Dad laughed.

“Let the kids have fun.”

Noah closed his eyes.

Madison walked forward.

Kevin watched.

My father watched.

Nobody stopped her.

The mud hit.

Then laughter.

That did not prove financial fraud.

It proved something more emotionally useful.

The family had normalized Noah absorbing discomfort for Madison’s amusement.

Why?

May you like

Because Madison was the child everyone worried about.

Noah was the child everyone assumed would recover.
