Chapter 19 - The Stolen NecklaceThe quiet of the following afternoon was shattered by a sharp scream from the master bedroom.

"My diamond necklace! It's gone!" Vanessa shrieked, running down the grand staircase toward Julian, who was reviewing quarterly reports in the living room. "Julian, it was my mother's heirloom! The one worth half a million!"
Julian frowned, setting his tablet aside. "Are you sure you didn't misplace it?"
"I left it right on my vanity!" Vanessa cried, tears welling up in her eyes—a masterclass in fake distress. She turned her tearful glare directly toward Elena, who was holding a tray of tea. "Search her room! Search the nanny's quarters! She's the only outsider here!"
