Chapter 29 - A Confession by the LakeThat evening, after Lily fell asleep peacefully in her room, Julian and Elena walked down to the private lake at the edge of the property. The moon reflected off the still water, casting a silver glow across the quiet woods.

"I never properly thanked you, Elena," Julian said softly, stopping beside the wooden dock. "Not just for saving Lily from the fire... but for waking me up."

Elena looked out over the water, her hair catching the cool night breeze. "She's my sister's daughter, Julian. I would have given my life for her."

Julian took a step closer, taking her slender hand in his. "And what about us? Was it all just a mission for you, Elena?"

Elena turned her gaze to meet his. The cold, calculating warrior who had entered the mansion weeks ago was gone. In her eyes was a warmth that made Julian’s heart beat faster.

"It started as a mission," she whispered softly. "But somewhere along the way... it became my home."
