Chapter 2

CHAPTER II: THE COST OF CRUELTY
Jonathan crossed the room with terrifying determination.
Every step echoed across the marble floor.
Vivian instinctively backed away.
She had never seen her husband look at her like this.
Not once.
Before she could say another word, Jonathan delivered a powerful kick that sent her stumbling backward through the already open glass doors leading toward the pool terrace.
She crashed into the estate’s enormous swimming pool with a thunderous splash.
Water exploded high into the night air.
Jonathan didn’t even glance toward the pool.
He immediately rushed back to Emily.
Ignoring the broken glass cutting through his expensive trousers and into his knees, he knelt beside her without hesitation.
With extraordinary gentleness, he carefully lifted Emily into his arms.
His trembling hands searched desperately for signs that their unborn son remained safe.
His voice finally broke.
“Forgive me…”
He held her tightly.
“I should never have left you here alone with her.”
Emily buried her face against his shoulder.
“I’m scared…”
“I know.”
“Our baby…”
“He’ll be safe.”
May you like
Jonathan kissed her forehead softly.
“I swear… no one will ever hurt either of you again.”
