Minutes later, the distant sound of an ambulance echoed through the quiet neighborhood.
Samuel returned.
“They’re here, sir.”
Jonathan nodded.
“Open the private gate.”
“No reporters.”
“No neighbors.”
“No mistakes.”
Professional paramedics hurried inside carrying emergency equipment.
One immediately examined Emily.
“Blood pressure is falling.”
“We need to move now.”
Jonathan carefully helped transfer her onto the stretcher.
Emily barely managed to open her eyes.
He squeezed her hand.
“Listen to me.”
“When this is over…”
“We’re leaving this city forever.”
“I’m taking you somewhere no one will ever find us.”
“You and our son…”
“You’ll finally be safe.”
The ambulance doors closed.
Emergency lights illuminated the grand estate one final time.
As the vehicle disappeared into the darkness, Moonstone Estate fell completely silent.
