Chapter 10 - THE TIMERPolice found photographs Mark had taken of the timer.

Not of Sophie.

The timer.

Why?

He kept records.

5 minutes.

8 minutes.

12 minutes.

15 minutes.

He had a spreadsheet.

Date.

Resistance level.

Duration.

Hair rinse completed.

Medication: yes/no.

Mood afterward.

He thought documentation made him scientific.

It made the pattern easier to prove.

One column was labeled:

COMPLIANCE

Not comfort.

Not anxiety.

Compliance.

The distinction mattered.

By the sixth week, the goal had shifted.

Mark was not asking:

Is Sophie less afraid?

He was asking:

May you like

Does Sophie obey the routine?

That change appeared in his own records before anyone accused him of it.
