Chapter 25 - MARK’S FIRST UNSUPERVISED VISITTwo years after the police call, Mark earned a limited unsupervised daytime visit.

Not overnight.

No bath.

No medication administration except emergency items under documented rules.

Sophie was seven.

She wanted to go to the science museum.

I hated it.

Not the museum.

Letting her leave with him.

My lawyer reminded me:

“Safety plans cannot become permanent punishment without evidence.”

Therapist agreed.

Mark had complied.

No violations.

Treatment.

Supervised visits.

Accountability.

Sophie wanted more normal contact.

I let the process work.

Four hours.

Mark returned her three minutes early.

Sophie ran inside carrying a fossil kit.

“Daddy let me touch a meteorite.”

“Cool.”

“And we used the bathroom.”

My heart stopped.

She rolled her eyes.

“To pee, Mom.”

I sat down.

Apparently trauma does not improve dignity.
