Chapter 25 - The Expansion Strategy

The success of the Elena Vance-Sterling Children’s Foundation in the city was nothing short of monumental. We had fully funded emergency housing for over two hundred families, provided countless hours of trauma therapy, and secured incredibly aggressive legal representation for victims trying to break free from their abusers.
But the demand for our services was completely overwhelming the local facility.
I sat in my home office late on a Tuesday evening, surrounded by complex demographic reports and real estate listings. Marcus sat across the desk, sipping a cup of black coffee, looking equally exhausted and determined.
"The data is incredibly clear, Elena," Marcus said, tapping a red circle on the digital map displayed on his tablet. "The rural counties in the northern part of the state have absolutely zero domestic violence infrastructure. Victims out there have nowhere to run."
"Then we need to build them somewhere to run," I stated firmly, rubbing my tired eyes. "I want to open a secondary branch of the Foundation. A massive, fully secure compound in the northern district."
"A project of that scale will require at least a ten-million-dollar initial investment for the land and the security infrastructure," Marcus warned. "It will temporarily drain the Foundation's emergency reserve funds."
"I am not draining the charity's reserves," I corrected smoothly, pulling a signed legal document from my desk drawer and sliding it across the table. "I am funding the expansion entirely out of my personal corporate dividends from Vale-Tech. The money transferred this morning."
Marcus stared at the document, his eyes widening in pure shock.
"Elena, this is a massive portion of your personal wealth," Marcus breathed.
"My wealth is completely useless to me if it isn't being used to build fortresses for people who are trapped in the dark," I replied, my voice ringing with absolute, undeniable conviction. "Dominic hoarded his millions to buy power and silence. I am using mine to buy freedom. Find the land, Marcus. We are breaking ground by next month."

Marcus smiled, closing his tablet with a sharp, decisive snap.
"I will have the top three property options on your desk by tomorrow morning," he promised.
