Chapter 29 - The New Foundation|

The bright, golden morning sun streamed through the expansive glass windows of our riverfront home, illuminating the dust motes that danced lazily in the air. I stood at the massive kitchen island, rhythmically chopping fresh strawberries and bananas for a large batch of pancakes, thoroughly enjoying the rare tranquility of a Monday morning where my schedule was entirely my own. The global tech empire I had built from absolute scratch was currently running like a perfectly oiled machine, allowing me these precious, quiet hours with my family.
Leo came bounding down the wooden stairs, his heavy school backpack slung carelessly over one shoulder, Buster the dog trailing right behind him with his tail wagging furiously.
"Morning, Mom!" Leo chirped brightly, dropping his heavy bag onto the hardwood floor with a loud, echoing thud.
"Good morning, sweetheart," I replied warmly, sliding a massive, steaming stack of fluffy pancakes onto a ceramic plate and sliding it across the cool marble counter. "Eat up quickly. You have your big science fair presentation today, remember?"
"I know, I know," he said enthusiastically, his mouth already half-full of warm syrup and fresh fruit. "I built a fully functional, solar-powered water filtration system. It's going to completely blow Mr. Harrison's mind."
"I have absolutely no doubt about that," I laughed softly, wiping my sticky hands on a clean dish towel. "Just remember to speak very clearly and try not to rush through the complex technical specifications."
Suddenly, my mobile phone buzzed sharply on the counter. It was Marcus, my Chief Operations Officer. I hesitated for a brief moment before picking it up.
"Marcus, please tell me the main servers haven't crashed," I answered, keeping my tone light and conversational.
"No crashes, boss," Marcus's deep voice came through the speaker, sounding slightly tense and strictly professional. "But we have a highly critical situation with the new European acquisition. A venture firm called Vanguard Holdings is actively trying to initiate a hostile takeover of the subsidiary."

I gripped the edge of the granite counter, my idyllic morning momentarily fracturing. Vanguard Holdings was notoriously ruthless, known for aggressively dismantling ethical companies for spare parts.
"We absolutely aren't letting them take it," I said firmly, my voice instantly dropping an octave into my commanding executive tone. "Assemble the corporate legal team immediately. I'll be in the office by ten. We fight this with everything we have."
