Chapter 45 - Passing the Torch|
Three highly successful, rapidly passing years heavily dissolved into a totally new corporate reality. The massive tech company was significantly larger and vastly more powerful than ever before, but I was slowly beginning to feel the heavy, compounding weight of the endless, demanding decades. I was comfortably sitting in my expansive executive office, deeply reviewing complex transition documents, when my digital screen lit up with an incoming video call. It was Leo.
"Hey, Mom," his bright face appeared clearly on the large screen. He looked incredibly mature, deeply focused, and highly professional in his crisp university lab coat.
"Hello, my brilliant future engineer," I smiled warmly, leaning comfortably back in my heavy leather chair. "How are the highly complex finals progressing?"
"They are actually completely finished," he grinned widely, a look of profound triumph radiating from his face. "I officially defended my final advanced thesis this morning. The stern committee absolutely loved the new AI-driven water purification models."
"I never had a single, tiny doubt," I said proudly. "So, you are officially graduating with your master's degree entirely early. What exactly is your next massive, ambitious move?"
Leo paused, his expression instantly shifting from happy excitement to deep, serious focus.
"I don't actually want to work for a random, soulless external tech firm, Mom," he said firmly, looking directly into the small camera. "I strictly want to come back home. I want to officially join the corporate foundation. I want to actively run the entire global engineering division for the charity."
My heart skipped a massive, profound beat.
"Leo, that is an incredibly demanding, highly stressful executive position," I warned gently, though my soul was loudly singing with pure joy. "Are you absolutely, completely certain?"
"I've completely spent my entire life fiercely watching you aggressively build things that truly matter," he stated, his voice completely unyielding and intensely confident. "I want to proudly take the massive torch you lit and boldly carry it further. Let me completely manage the complex philanthropic tech. You can finally start successfully stepping back and fiercely enjoying the quiet peace you heavily earned."

Tears of immense joy instantly filled my tired eyes. The unbroken, beautiful legacy of massive, unshakeable light I had fiercely fought for was totally secure.
"I'll instantly have HR heavily draft your official executive contract today," I smiled warmly. "Welcome aboard, Director."
